I just spent a completely delightful hour with the University of Arizona vocal students who are preparing Die Zauberflöte for performances in April. They were engaged, prepared, and took big risks. More than that a teacher cannot ask! It’s so important to realize that the road to real excellence is bumpy. Everybody went outside their comfort zone, which was wonky at first but which then led to obvious, exciting progress. Thanks for the great work, all, and thanks to David Ward for the invitation!
